"Mahone's Counterattack"
Battle of the Crater, Petersburg, Virginia
soldiers of the 9th Corps (north) take on the 6th (south)Virginia during the Battle of the Crater. This was on July 30th, 1964. One of the last "big" battles of the Civil War. General Mahone, which this painting is named after, turned the tide of the Souths defense against the northern attack in Petersburg.
